About Friends of the Downtown-Medford

Friends of the Downtown-Medford, Inc. is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit focused on promoting Historic Downtown Medford.

In 2005 Mayor Mike Wellner brought together a group of Downtown Business Owners, Public Officials and Local Citizens to discuss issues concerning the Downtown Business Area. This group of concerned residents formed the Friends of the Downtown-Medford, Inc. (FOTD)

Though the years it has been the goal of the FOTD to promote and improve the Downtown Area, knowing that without a thriving Downtown the community would be losing out on a great asset.

Hanging floral baskets, holiday decorations, street fairs and the Tax Day Brat Fry are just a few of the ways the FOTD works in the Downtown to help promote the area. The Chair Affair being the largest of the events is held every August and encourages citizens to become artists – to create chairs that are works of art that are then auctioned off! The Friends of the Downtown’s Chair Affair Auction is a must attend event for many in the community with friends and neighbors, husbands and wives bidding against one another for the winning bid on their favorite chair.

We would like to invite you to join our cause. The Friends of the Downtown-Medford, Inc. believes that the Downtown belongs to the entire community and it our goal to make a thriving center for business and social activities.
